What We Do

Awareness

  • Promote greater public and political awareness of the importance of liver disease prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment.

  • Set clear goals and targets to reduce the liver disease burden.

Advocacy

  • Promote services and programs tailored to the needs of affected populations in different settings, including centralized testing and treatment in urban and peri-urban settings and decentralized testing and treatment in rural and remote areas.

  • Embrace, support and contribute to effective inter-country, inter-regional and global liver disease networks and partnerships.

Policy Development

  • Support APAC governments to develop their own national liver disease action plans within an overarching and integrated national policy that tackles hepatitis, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), nonalcoholic fatty liver disease/nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NAFLD/NASH) and cirrhosis.

  • Promote strategies for early screening, surveillance, diagnosis and treatment of liver diseases.

  • Reinforce the need for increased financial resources for liver diseases – through external or domestic funding – and include viral hepatitis and HCC prevention, early screening, diagnosis and treatment as part of essential national health benefit packages.
