Our Alliance

The Asia-Pacific Liver Disease Alliance has been developed to help stem the growing burden of liver disease and its social and economic impact on the region’s four billion inhabitants.

  • National Action Plans

Asia-Pacific nations should develop their own comprehensive national action plans or frameworks to address liver disease.

  • Regional and International Cooperation

Asia-Pacific nations should develop effective inter-country, inter-regional and global networks and partnerships for concerted global action against liver disease.

  • Patient Journey

To reduce the liver disease burden, it is crucial to intervene at all steps of the patient journey: prevention, early screening, surveillance, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring.

  • Funding and Access

Payment incentives improve prevention, screening, diagnostics and treatment, supporting better liver health at the population level. Nations should allocate adequate funding to liver disease prevention, management and control.

  • Research

To effectively manage the liver disease epidemic, research has a central role as it helps to better identify the causes of liver disease and the most effective interventions to prevent and treat it.

  • Awareness

To reduce the burden of liver diseases, it is key to educate the population, the policymakers, and the healthcare professionals on the importance of prevention and good care practices.

  • Political Commitment

A supportive environment for liver disease plans and programs requires the development of appropriate policies and adequate funding. The key to driving change is to mobilise leaders who prioritise a healthy population by reducing the burden of liver diseases.
